RO Plants for Borewell Water Purification

Across India, borewell water is an important source of water for industries, commercial facilities, and agriculture, especially in areas where municipal supply is limited or unreliable. However, borewell water can contain different types and levels of contaminants depending on the location, season, and depth of the borewell. Reverse Osmosis (RO) can be an effective solution, but the system must be properly designed based on the quality and characteristics of the source water.

Why Borewell Water Cannot Be Used Without Treatment

Unlike surface water, which is subject to visible pollution and easier to characterise, borewell water draws from groundwater aquifers that have spent years, sometimes centuries, in contact with geological formations. The result is water with a contamination fingerprint that varies dramatically by region, depth, and local industrial or agricultural activity.

How Reverse Osmosis Removes Borewell Contaminants

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a pressure-driven membrane filtration process. In natural osmosis, water moves through a semi-permeable membrane from an area with lower dissolved solids to one with higher dissolved solids until equilibrium is reached. A reverse osmosis plant in India works in the opposite way.

External pressure is applied to the high-concentration side, pushing water through the membrane toward the cleaner side. The membrane allows water molecules to pass while rejecting many dissolved salts, ions, heavy metals, microorganisms, and other contaminants. In simple terms, RO uses pressure to separate clean water from dissolved contaminants.

What Industrial Sectors Use Borewell RO Systems

As an industrial RO system manufacturer in India, Ravi Enviro Industries Pvt.Ltd designs and manufactures water RO systems across a wide range of industrial and institutional applications. The specific pre-treatment sequence, membrane configuration, recovery ratio, and post-treatment train are engineered to the water quality target of each application:
  • Boiler Feed Water
  • Pharmaceutical & Healthcare
  • Chemical & Textile Industries
  • Cooling Tower Makeup
  • Institutional & Commercial

Selecting the Right RO Capacity for Borewell Applications

REIPL offers industrial RO systems for borewell water across a wide range of capacities. These include compact skid-mounted package plants for small industries and institutions, as well as large modular systems for major industrial facilities.

Choosing the right RO capacity depends on several factors, including daily water demand, required recovery ratio, and reject water management. For borewell RO systems, recovery is typically around 60–75%, depending on the feed-water quality and system design.
